Foreigners represented by a South African Agency, wishing to work in SA for the purpose of film related activity, may enter SA with a Visitors Permit for up to three (3) months provided they hold a passport from a country which is visa exempt. They would not require a work permit on condition that they are in SA for a period of up to ninety (90) consecutive days and that they do are not remunerated in SA. This initial period may be extended once for a further period of three (3) months. Please note that the maximum duration of stay is also determined by the country of which the individual holds a passport. If the relevant passport holder is from a country which is not visa exempt, they have to apply for a visa to travel to SA first, and that application must be submitted at the relevant or nearest South African mission abroad.
It is also advisable to have in your possession a letter from your employer (in your home country) confirming that you will only be visiting SA for the purpose of the shoot and that you will be returning to your home country / residence on completion of the shoot. In certain cases, an invitation letter from the South African Agency would be applicable.
• Please refer to http://www.home-affairs.gov.za/visa_schedule.asp as to ascertain whether your country is visa exempt and what maximum period applies for which country.
