Perfectly poised in the centre of our bustling CBD, the Companies’ Garden remain a significant natural escape for city dwellers to indulge in and break away, while enjoying the well kept flora and fauna in the heart of our CBD. The garden, dates back to the 1650’s when the first European settlers planted a fresh produce garden, and since then, the first pear tree in Cape Town, still grows today.
The Companies’ Garden is surrounded by an exclusive selection of South Africa’s most historical landmarks and Institutions such as The Houses of Parliament, the Iziko SA Museum and Planetarium, St George's Cathedral (which is the seat of the Anglican church in SA), the National Library of SA, the SA National Gallery, the Great Synagogue and Holocaust Centre and Tuynhuys, which is used by the President on State occasions.
The Companies’ Garden is a film friendly location whereby Industry can confidently host their production, facilitated in the surrounds of the lush greenery and forest-like tranquillity. You will be guided by the Film Permit Office on certain restrictions as this is also a heritage site.
If it’s greenery, ponds, flora, fauna, a selection of wild life, a rose garden and some very significant landmarks you are looking for to fulfil your production, visit the Company Gardens’ and be amazed at all it has to offer.
